Development of society by value of education
Value crisis is a global phenomenon of our times, due to scientific growth and technological advancements resulting in industrialization have threatened our age old moral standards. Disputes over petty matters, murders, agitations, stabbing and other crimes are rampant as we read in the news papers and listen to the media. This atmosphere of value deterioration is leading to disintegration of societies though we notice, at the same time,today we all facing multi-dimensional hazards which were never visualized before. When a tree grows up to heaven, its roots reach down to earth. We must realize that this process of value deterioration will prove disastrous and lead to rise to action and make conscious efforts to reverse the trend and lead the societies to the right direction.
The first step in the direction of changing the world is to take needed steps for radical change in the human consciousness. One of the most important means to achieve this end is value orientation of education. This will help human beings to conduct themselves in the more desirable directions and to shape their life pattern by strengthening their beliefs and by integrating facts, idea, attitudes and actions.
It must be recalled that the theme of value education in the traditional sense is synonymous with religious education and moral education. National policy of education has also stated, that though unfortunately value education has received merely lip service so far,without an effective value education, the country will face crisis of character, adversely affecting the quality of life and relationship leading to tensions and strife. The economy and development of the country also stand to lose.The main goal of value education in schools should be to make the students better citizens so that they may share their responsibilities for the development of the country. Students should also be able to understand the national goals of democracy, secularism and socialism. They could develop themselves to be useful fellow citizens and continuously strive for their inner development. The society has committed itself to spread the massage and to promote value education in the school and college system.
