A petition was started six years before by Bharulata Kamble to the Government of India that 3rd January i.e., birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule should be declared as Women’s Day of India, because there is no better way to tribute to sach feminist who fought for right to education for women, right to dignity for widows, unwed mothers and women with unwanted pregnancies, caste and other different social evils of India, This petition had only 133 supporters so, at present it was closed. Uttaranchal College of Education with the feeling of paying tribute to such a great lady for her exceptional contribution for the betterment of a big portion of population of India, decided to celebrate her birthday as Women’s Day of India.

With the inspiration of honorable MD sir and ED Ma’am, it was possible to celebrate this event with full of enthusiasm at great level.

A dabate competition has been organised by B.Ed. department on the topic, ” Position of women: then and now”.

Event started with the introduction of the day by Ruchi Sachdeva.

Mukesh Kumar, Anjali, Suman, Vidushi, Neeta and Durga presented their views in favour. Sunidhi, Neelam , Vijay, Nidhi and Archana presented their views against the topic.

Dr Rashmi Dhingra, Principal, UCBMSH and Dr. Sharat Sharma judged the dabate and declared the result of first winners i.e., Vidushi and Neeta from first group (favour) and Sunidhi from second group (against).
