OBJECTIVE OF GUEST LECTURE:
As a part of academic activity, a GUEST LECTURE was organized by the department of Pathology on 10 Oct 2017. The Topic for the Guest Lecture was “Role of Microbiology in today’s world”.
About Guest Faculty
Dr. Ankit Khanduri is presently working as ‘Infection Control Officer’ at Max Super Speciality hospital, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
About Guest lecture- Dr. Ankit Khanduri started his lecture with a brief introduction of microbiology. He discussed about the basic concepts underlying the biology of microbes. In his lecture he included various topics as sources of infection, types of infections, its mode of transmission, treatment and most importantly its prevention.
He also made the students aware of the advanced and emerging latest technologies for the diagnosis of microbial infections. He told the importance of biomedical waste management. He had also answered so many queries of students regarding the topic and the microbiology subject.
He concluded his lecture with the importance of Microbiology in treating patients with infectious diseases and in controlling hospital infections.
Our paramedical students learned a lot from the lecture and they understood that the primary role of microbiology laboratory in patient care is to aid clinicians in identifying causative agents of various infectious diseases and helps determine the antimicrobial susceptibility profiles, when appropriate. They asked for all their doubts and get cleared. And also some students are motivated towards doing research in these emerging fields.
